I am writing this review not because I like or dislike this jacket. I am writing this review because my friend in Ukraine asked me to buy it for her son in law. Her son in law is now in trenches, on the front lines under the Ukrainian city of Bachmut. This city is under the Russian assault for the last several weeks. He likes this jacket a lot. I saw his picture in it. If he likes it, then I like it too!Had this jacket for the past 4 years now its comfortable and keeps me nice and warm.the most we get in my country though is cold fronts from The US so it's not snowy cold per say but I used this jacket at work whenever I have been asked to tend to the freezer dealing with frozen orders. Our freezer is mighty cold but with this one I didn't feel cold at only only my hands which were exposed when I worked inside the freezer with no gloves suffered. My main and only dislike is the wrist straps they're garbage I used my jacket this week and the both snapped off like twigs this whole time I thought it was a type of soft rubber but no its more on a firmer plastic side and both straps broke thus leaving me with loose cuffs. It would of been better just to have the straps made of some type of cloth or something definitely not the material used for the wrist straps right now. Other than the wrist straps I have no other complaints best jacket I have ever owned to date. I will soon be joining a law enforcement Agency soon depending on which one takes me first I will buy another jacket to match their uniforms color.i bought this soft shell jacket last summer when i thought i could get a deal on winter clothing. now in February the price is about the same as i paid, so i guess that wasnt so much the case. anyway, overall i am quite satisfied with my purchase as it is very functional and seems moderately durable so far, again, especially when you consider something similar from a name brand would cost twice as much.i have no illusions that it might withstand an expedition into the hindu kush and back, but for my occasional rough use it is more than sufficient. i live where the winters are fairly mild, and with a t-shirt this keeps me comfortable down into the 50s. i did some traveling into colder climates, and found when i threw on a light fleece underneath i was comfortable down to the 40s, and when i cinched up all the zippers and the hood (along with some gloves and a wool knit cap) it made it tolerable down to below freezing, especially when i was walking or otherwise active and moving my muscles (but i wouldnt want to stand still for too long). with a base layer in addition to a fleece, and heavier pants than the jeans i was wearing, i imagine i would have been comfortable in still air well down into the 20s.it blocks the wind fairly well, tho you will still feel strong gusts wisp thru if you are up against those. It will also keep you dry form snow and it repels mist, drizzle and does a decent job with light rain too. I have not worn the shell into moderate rain, but i feel that it would keep you dry as long as you stayed in it only briefly. heavy rain i feel would outclass this shell and you would get wet pretty quickly.so, you get pretty good performance, and its not too heavy either (tho heavier than it would be with all those zippers and pockets hanging off it) and packs up pretty compactly too. tons of pockets add a little weight but your storage potential is enormous if you need it. but its not perfect, it should really be 4.5 stars but my gripes are minor. first of all, there are cords EVERYWHERE. they might be functional i suppose, except i have no need for them and they always got in the way when i tried to close zippers. i have managed to tuck them away so they are not much of a factor, but it was a mild annoyance initially. also, the shell has a baggy fit. the fashion design philosophy is definitely function over form. i am not a metro, but i am a slim guy and was hoping for a more trim fit. i was disappointed here, but by cinching up the waist i was able to slightly simulate the fitted look i prefer. and id much rather have a jacket that works well, as this one does, than just looks good (which is subjective anyway). if you like the "tacticool" look, and/or if you're a bigger or more muscular type, then you will probably really like this soft shell.reviews mentioning how the hood doesnt roll up into its pocket are half true. its not too hard to squeeze it into its compartment if you roll it up intelligently, but it is a little awkward to do so as well as to wear it that way. if you dont plan on using it you can just unzip it all together and remove it until you plan on needing it, but since i like the hood i just keep it out and found this as a non-factor. the hood itself was at first kind of awkward fitting, but i eventually figured out how to cinch it up using one of those zillions of cords to make it fit my head correctly and now all is good.BOTTOM LINE: solid, functional soft shell, and a GREAT value in my opinion. i use it as a casual jacket and it has served me well in outdoors activities where its highly customizable nature makes it adaptable to varying conditions and temperatures (requiring layers) in the 30-60 degree range. its 400 secure pockets are also useful in this regard for holding various items and it seems to be resisting wear and tear better than one might expect for its price point. if you're in the market for a functional soft shell jacket and dont want to pay an arm and a leg for a name brand i highly recommend this guy.BONUS: and its easy to clean. i wore it into a smokey bar once. to get the smell out i just turned it inside out and threw it in with my colored laundry and voila, just like newVery nice jacket. I’m 5’11” 190 lbs and large fits perfect. I love the woodland pattern camo. Not sure why the military did away with it.My boyfriend loves all the compartments! Its very well insulated and has a nice fit. He is 6'3" and wears a large for a slightly baggy look. I personally the hood looks a bit weird, a bit pointy when you try to make adjustments to it.Yes an outstanding jacket perfect in every way!JohnAfter three weeks or waiting, I received this jacket. I was disappointed. The colour of this jacket was good. The hood of the jacket was folded and hidden in the collar making the collar looked bulky and ugly. Then I released the hood from the collar. Under the zipper of the collar there was a decal. Together with the decals at the visor of the hood and the collar, I attached the hood with the collar. Because the hood was big, it looked like a piece of big triangular folded cloth hanging at the back. Meanwhile, we cold see a wide opening of the zipper on the collar. No matter when the hood was folded and hidden in the collar or was released from the hood. I feel that the jacket was ugly. The long line of ditches on the collar was not sewed evenly. It is not the workmanship of a CD$ 154.00 jacket should have. This jacket was good for rough wearing but is not good for fashionable outfit. After a few times of wearing, I will donate it to a charity organization. This is a very good option to Blackhawk or 5.11. Many features, good quality, excellent stitching.Looks really sharp, colour is good. Have only worn it briefly, but quite pleased so far.Pros: Excellent fit, look, and shape. Waterproof (after 5 minute session in shower - let's see how it stands up to a washing and Vancouver Island weather). Many pockets (see cons). Pit zips are a great feature. Construction seems rugged. I can see wearing this for many years. Friends have commented favourably. Stands up to the big boys (I think).Cons: The hood is MASSIVE. It must be designed to cover a PASGT or similar type. When folded into the collar, it looks like I've swallowed a plate.Even cinched up, its huge. Why so big? Me civilian now - I just wear ball caps. Hood is not easily fully detachable. No hand warmer pockets, but pass through pockets in the back? What the heck?Fabric is a bit noisy (but that might change with washing). Why such massive Velcro patches? I don't need to display any affiliation. Remember, me civilian now..On the whole, I am pleased.Terrible it's extremely small lint in the pockets must have been washed a return that got sent back out sold to me or made for someone with a very small body shape ordered 3XL truly regretting it they will not accept a return got stuck with a piece of junk not impressed I know it's not Rothco that's the problem as I have multiple products from themFantastic Jacket.I did not know what to expect considering similar jackets cost way more.Well, this thing fit the bill perfectly and I have about 4 people I know that are going to be buying one of these after they seen mine.My only issue is with the vent zipper under the armpit. It chafes my arm between the bicep and triceps, but I can live with it, it is not a constant rubbing all the time and I notice it more because I wear only short sleeve shirts.
